ORLANDO, Fla. - Oct. 29, 2013 - PRLog -- The World Ballet Competition has announced the return of WBC OPEN to Sibiu, Romania for its 3rd annual edition to be hosted from March 20-23, 2014.

Dancers, ages 9-26, are eligible to compete this March in various dance styles including ballet, jazz, modern, and neoclassical. Dancers have the opportunity to win a large cash prize of $3,000 US Dollars and may be eligible to advance to the WBC USA held in Orlando, Florida.

As the oldest city in Romania, Sibiu offers historic landmarks, rich culture, and a pedestrian-friendly city layout; offering a picturesque partnership to host the World Ballet Competition OPEN. Vasile Petrutiu, Founder of the World Ballet Competition and also a native Romanian who grew up in Cluj says "We are pleased to once again host the WBC OPEN in Sibiu. The city has been very welcoming to our participants and gave us great compliments on our previous events. We are excited to bring back more talented competitors to the city!"

Last year’s WBC OPEN included dancers of Serbia, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Greece, South Korea, and the United States of America. The top prize, the “WBC OPEN Excellence Award” and $3,000 US Dollars was divided amongst six dancers: Amyra Cristina Badro (Romania), Leanne Fromm (USA), Cosmin Marinescu (Romania), Risa Mochizuki (Japan), Irina Georgiana Tarau (Romania), and Takahiro Tsubo (Japan). Those six dancers also won invitations to advance the World Ballet Competition’s world finals in Orlando, Florida, USA. An established jury of eight members included Luba Gulyaeva, a colleague of Mikhail Baryshnikov; Elisabetta Hertel of Accademia Internazionale Coreutica in Italy, and Cosmin Marculetiu of Festival Ballet Theatre in the USA.

Competition enrollment for dancers is accepted on a first come, first serve basis. For registration forms and/or more information, please visit http://www.WorldBalletCompetition.com or call +40 269 22 96 27.
