Why would I need Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is an essential tool in the road to recovery from any sort of injury, condition or disease.

Oct. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Physiotherapy is a style of health care treatment that is used to help people recover from conditions or injuries to a more functional living state. A Physiotherapist will use physical approaches (including stretching, hands-on techniques, etc.), education, and modalities (specifically heat and ultrasound) to promote, maintain and restore physical well-being. The Physiotherapist will perform an assessment, testing your strength and flexibility to determine the most ideal form of treatment you will be receiving. This could involve a combination of activities including: hands-on treatment, specific exercise instruction to address muscle imbalances and joint problems, and a wide variety of other techniques. Additionally, education to the client is always provided so as to assist the individual in understanding their condition and preventing it from re-occurring.

It is necessary to ensure you are following the instruction of your physiotherapist, as if you begin doing harder exercises before your body is ready, you may end up further damaging the injury you originally began attending Physiotherapy for. It is common to feel some soreness as you are exercising, or as the physiotherapist is collaborating with you, but if it becomes unbearable you will need to report it right away so that the treatment can be properly adjusted. Once your body has shown great progression from the beginning of your treatment sessions, the physiotherapist will begin to further educate you on ways to maintain function outside of the physiotherapy clinic. This will ensure that you do not re-injury yourself. All of our Physiotherapists are highly knowledgeable and skilled in many techniques.
