eWriteSteps wins APEX 2013 Grand Award for Publishing Excellence in Writing!

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Oct. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- eWriteSteps (http://WriteStepsWriting.com), a research-based, 100 percent K-5 Common Core digital writing and grammar program, has been awarded the APEX 2013 Award of Excellence in the writing category.

eWriteSteps is an innovative, web-based learning portal for teachers that includes all of WriteSteps’ daily writing lesson plans and student visual aids,  videos of modeled lessons, print and video updates, and parent resources.  Teachers can access the award-winning writing lessons anywhere there is internet access. eWriteSteps works well with interactive white boards, document cameras, and iPads.

APEX 2013 -- the 25th Annual Awards for Publication Excellence -- is an international competition that recognizes outstanding publications from newsletters and magazines to annual reports, brochures and websites.

According to one of the APEX 2013 judges, eWriteSteps is "An impressive online package -- from the No. 2 pencil logo theme, to the appealing pastel spot colors and screens, and the very attractive, inviting look and feel of the site. It does a remarkable job of harnessing design to reinforce the content, in part by making the target audience (teachers) feel right at home. Speaking of content, the copy is crisply written. It's thoroughly researched, prepared and presented. A flawless 'lesson plan', if you will, by teachers teaching teachers."

2,400 entries were evaluated and 100 Grand Awards were presented to honor outstanding work in 12 major categories including: newsletters; magazines and journals; megapapers and newspapers; annual reports; brochures, manuals and reports; electronic media; social media; websites; campaigns, programs and plans; writing; design and illustration; and one-of-a-kind publications.

“This is the third award WriteSteps has received this year for our work in helping teachers succeed in teaching writing,” said Suzanne Klein, WriteSteps’ Founder and CEO. “It’s incredible to see the growth of WriteSteps as we work to help improve student writing across the nation.”

WriteSteps was also the recipient of Learning Magazine 2013 Teachers' Choice Award and the recipient of the eLit Gold Award for Digital Publishing Excellence.

About WriteSteps
In 2007, WriteSteps Founder and CEO Suzanne Klein committed herself to creating teacher-friendly writing lessons after her school decided to prioritize writing due to low student outcomes. The writing program she developed - WriteSteps - was so successful in raising test scores and student confidence that the company expanded its scope to refocus instruction on the Common Core State Standards for writing and grammar. Its Common Core release won a "Best of Entrepreneurs" Award from Ann Arbor SPARK in 2010 and launched nationwide in September, 2011. WriteSteps is the recipient of Learning Magazine 2013 Teachers' Choice Award, recipient of the eLit Gold Award, and the recipient of the APEX Award for Publication Excellence in writing.
