Follow on Google News | Lieutenant Govenor hosts a tea party to recognzie Alice Housing honoureesBy: Alice Housing Thirty key individuals and community organizations that have helped to make a difference in the lives of women and their children will be recognized today at an afternoon tea hosted by Brigadier-General, the Honourable J.J. Grant, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. This is one of two events being held in celebration of Alice Housing’s 30thAnniversary. When: Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2pm Where: Government House 1451 Barrington Street, Halifax *Attendees, including media are requested to arrive between 1:35pm – 1:50pm -30- Since 1983, Alice Housing has been providing safe and affordable housing for women and their children leaving domestic violence. With 18 units and a suite of supportive counselling services, including Live Safe and Healing the Bruises, it is one of the largest organizations of its kind in Canada. Alice Housing will be joined by longstanding supporters, staff and clients as it celebrates its 30th Anniversary at a Gala event on November 8th at the Westin, Halifax. The Alice through the Looking Glass themed event will reflect on the progress the organization has made since opening its doors in 1983 while at the same time recognizing 30 individuals and key community organizations that have contributed to this growth and success.
