Follow on Google News | Nova Scotia women plan how to reshape the world on one awe-inspiring dayBy: Limbus Inc The conference day, open to women and men, is designed to inspire by featuring live, on-stage interviews with six women who in their own ways are reshaping the world. The six women will be selected based on nominations from the community. After their stories are shared, all conference delegates will discuss in a World Cafe learnings and ideas for positive change. Nominees can be volunteers, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, corporate leaders, public sector leaders, and anyone who can inspire women and men to do more and be more. “Although some strides have been made, around the world, most societal, community and business decisions are still made by men, compared to being made equally based on male and female perspectives which research has proven to be more effective,” says Barry Braun, Principal of Limbus, the Nova Scotia coaching company organizing the conference. “I am a man who believes that, if women had the influence or, better yet, made the decisions, our world would be on a better trajectory.” Limbus is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of awareness to create the freedom to make a meaningful difference. For 20 years, members of the Limbus team have been helping executives and entrepreneurs shape their careers so they bring both financial prosperity and meaning to their lives. Two years ago, Braun became a grandfather and asked how he could use his company to create a better future for his granddaughter. This thinking is what inspired the Women Reshaping the World conference. “Our grandchildren need women's voices to be heard, to have greater influence, and to make the changes our world needs,” says Braun. The conference is open to all. “The interest is quite varied,” says Braun. “Some registrants are women entrepreneurs, some are corporate leaders who have many females on their teams or want more, others are community volunteers, public sector workers, and we’re pleased to see men expressing interest in being part of the conversations too.” One woman attending the conference is Jennifer Gillivan, CEO of the IWK Health Centre Foundation, which is focused on supporting excellence in health care for women, children and families. “There are so many humble yet amazing women, making a meaningful difference every day right here in the Maritimes,” she says. “I want to talk with them, learn from them, and I want to be inspired to be my best and help others around me to be their best too. I can’t wait for October 25th – it will be a powerful day and it will inspire lasting impact.” Carolyn Booth, The Senior Vice President Atlantic for BMO says “I am looking forward to attending the conference to hear the inspirational stories of the 6 women being featured. I believe that the opportunity to create change and make a real difference resides in each of us – it often just needs to be unleashed. This conference will provide us all with the opportunity to pause and think how we can each, in our own way, seize more opportunities to make a difference in our own lives and the lives of others. Registration is $100 for the day (including lunch). To submit a nomination or to register, go to: womenreshapingtheworld.com Nominations are due by September 30th and the six conference speakers will be announced on October 18, 2013. Sponsors to date for this conference day are BMO, the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED), Scott McCain and Leslie McLean, the AC Group, Bullfrog Power, Nova Scotia Cooperative Council and the IWK Health Centre Foundation, all individuals and organizations supportive of equality, innovation and progress for women. -30- Follow Women Reshaping the World on Twitter WomenReshaping or Facebook LimbusInc Contact: Barry Braun barry@limbusco.com or 902-830-6569 Tegan Smith Communications & Community Relations Limbus End
