Criminal Case Dismissed: Then NYPD Lawsuit, Resulting in $7,501.00 Offer of Judgment Settlement

Nick Williams has agreed to accept the City of New York's Offer of Judgment, for the total sum of $7,501.00, plus reasonable attorneys' fees and costs to resolve his claims that he was the victim of false arrest and malicious prosecution.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Oct. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- After a Brooklyn man retained Michael J. Redenburg, Esq., to file a civil lawsuit against the City of New York on November 29, 2012, Nick Williams has accepted the City's offer to resolve the allegations contained within his Complaint, which was filed in federal court. Within his Complaint, Mr. Williams alleged that while lawfully present in front of his mother's house in Harlem, NY, he was with other individuals and his 9 year old son, when NYPD Officers approached. The Complaint further alleged that one of the NYPD Officers instructed Mr. Williams' son to "pop-a-wheelie" on the bicycle he was riding; but Mr. Williams objected to the Officer's instruction. Thereafter, Mr. Williams was arrested and charged with two counts of Disorderly Conduct. After spending the night in jail and attending court thereafter, the case was completely dismissed and a false arrest lawsuit was commenced.

In making the Offer of Judgment, the City of New York has not admitted any liability by defendants or any official, employee, or agent of the City of New York, or any agency thereof; nor is it an admission that Plaintiff has suffered any damages.

The City's Rule 68 Offer of Judgment was accepted by Mr. Williams on October 16, 2013, and a copy which was duly filed with the Court, can be found here https://www.mjrlaw-ny.com/documents/13-10-16-Doc-7-1-Rule-68-Offer-of-Judgment.PDF .
