Woodbury University School of Architecture To Host Panel: Criticism in Architecture and Visual Arts

SAN DIEGO - Oct. 11, 2013 - PRLog -- SAN DIEGO, Calif.(October 10, 2013) – Everyone’s a critic, but what about those who do it for a living?  Do we need criticism? How has criticism changed in the digital age? Does it produce better architecture, art, and film?

These are just a few of the topics in play at Woodbury University’s upcoming Library South Series panel entitled "A Framework for Judgment: Criticism in Architecture and the Visual Arts." The event will be held on November 1 at the university’s San Diego Barrio Logan campus.

Among the panelists: Christopher Hawthorne, architecture critic at the Los Angeles Times, Leah Ollman, art critic at the Los Angeles Times, andRobert Pincus, art critic and historian. The discussion, which will be moderated by university librarian Cathryn Ziefle, will also delve into such other questions as “What are the criteria for criticism?” “What is criticism’s role in education?” “How does one become a critic?” and “Should you trust the public as critic?”
