The Black Music Association & Academy of America (BMA) proudly presents the first ever "Atlanta Black Music Awards Show” on Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Center Stage Theater, 1374 West Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA 30309. The Black Music Association's mission is to cultivate, motivate, and invigorate the music, artists, and public. We achieve our mission by recognizing the up-rising talents of America, creating new opportunities through music and paying honor to legendary artist. “Atlanta is a City of Stars, this is certain to be our biggest event thus far,” says Founder Dr. Rick Warren. “We are delighted to bring our awards gala to the City of Atlanta.”
Dr. Rick Warren is the founder, creator and implementer of the Black Expo; the Black Sports Hall of Fame (three cities); the Black Music Association & Academy of America Black Music Awards (Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Oakland/San Francisco, Sacramento, Chicago, Detroit, and Washington, D.C.); Rick Warren also formulated the Sacrament Juneteenth Festival; the NAACP R&B Festival; the 1000 Black Man March on the California State Capitol; The Oak Park Street Fest; the Minorities N Real Estate Expo; the Observer Newspapers 40th Anniversary Gala;
The BMA has hosted its awards gala in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Houston, Chicago, and Detroit. Past recipients and honorees of the Black Music Awards include but are not limited to legendary artists such as Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Jackson's, and Earth, Wind & Fire. This year's honorees and nominees include Atlanta Icons' “The Tams”; Black Music Hall of Fame recipient “Regina Belle” and many others. BET/Def Comedy Jam Comedian “Pierre” will be the evening's host.
