Follow on Google News | Youth Automotive Training Center Welcomes 35th ClassYATC board members, staff and supporters welcomed their 35th class to the Deerfield Beach center, where the students will be offered resources and support to turn their lives around – all in exchange for their hard work and dedication over the next nine months. Jim Moran, automotive legend and founder of JM Family Enterprises, created YATC with the mission to train and educate at-risk youth in basic automotive repair, academic remediation, job readiness and life management skills. The program prepares young adults to become self-sufficient, productive and law-abiding citizens. Since opening its doors in 1984, nearly 600 students have graduated from YATC and have become contributing members of the community. “Jim Moran believed in second chances and he believed in YATC,” said Larry McGinnes, President, YATC Board of Directors. “This program held a special place in Mr. Moran’s heart, and each year we keep his dream alive by helping these young people change their lives and prepare for a better future.” Joining the new class on their first day was Jan Moran, wife of the late Jim Moran, and Colin Brown, member of YATC’s Board of Directors and President and CEO of JM Family Enterprises. Both shared encouraging stories of Jim Moran’s commitment to helping kids prepare for a brighter future, while reinforcing that hard work and dedication will lead to each student’s own success.
