Using Fate to Determine Destiny - Local Author Turns Adversity to Success

By: Andrea Johnson

CHELMSFORD, Mass. - Sept. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Our heroine attempts to convince herself that everything happens for a reason as she is torn from her well-established though mundane life and is thrown into a tornado of everything she most fears:  pain, uncertainty, and a passionate love that will require all of her strength to keep alive.  Mirroring the author, Andrea Johnson, the characters in Soul’s Shadows carry the reader through a journey questioning fate and how each of the events in our lives shape our destiny.

When Johnson, a New England native, was laid off from her comfortable project manager job at a national technology company after over ten years of service, she wondered where her and her family would end up.  After all, she had dedicated her life to that point to building her successful career, raising her two boys with her husband, and paying the mortgage and car payments month over month.  Now, not only was she in a financial crisis, but also a personal one as well.  She explained, “When you first get introduced to someone, usually the second thing they learn about you after your name is your occupation.  I was lost, and found myself going through an identity crisis, questioning everything about myself.”

It was this self-examination that led Johnson to think back to her roots, to her true interest.  With an M.A. in English Literature from Bridgewater State College, she sat down at her desk and started pouring her questions into the plot of Soul’s Shadows.  By pushing the pressure of unemployment and caregiving to a space that would allow her to write the next chapter of her career, Johnson is thrilled to announce that Soul’s Shadows was published in July by Musa Publishing as an e-book.  This thought-provoking suspense fiction has a little something for everyone:  romance, fantasy, paranormal, action and mystery.

Soul’s Shadows can be found through Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com

That which does not kill us makes us stronger, but that which does kill us makes us stronger still.

Dr. Elizabeth Freeland, an introverted workaholic in the emergency room at Boston City Hospital, has had her world turned upside down by the new Head of Surgery, Dr. Victor St. Laurent.  She can’t put her finger on why, but there’s something about him that is affecting her in a way that’s new, and completely frustrating.  If this is love, then she’s glad she’s never felt it before now.  Worse, when a subway train runs off its tracks, Dr. St. Laurent notices Elizabeth’s special gift, an ability to know when it’s time for someone to die.  Through a chain of events outside of their control, they are brought together and torn apart, begging the question of whether they were brought together for a reason or did fate have a hand in keeping them apart.
