Board Chair of Lost Our Home Pet Foundation Selected as Finalist for NARS “Good Neighbor Award”

Finalist Recognized for Commitment to Improving Communities through Voluntarism

PHOENIX - Sept. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Brenda Breit, Board Chair of Lost Our Home Pet Foundation, and Realtor® with The Empowered Team, LLC in Scottsdale, has been recognized as a finalist for the National Association of Realtors® (NARS) REALTOR® Magazine’s 2013 Good Neighbor Award.

With nearly 1 million members, NARS is America’s largest group of independent businesspeople and the biggest professional trade association in the U.S., making Breit’s recognition for her volunteerism highly prestigious.

A dog foster and tireless advocate for animal welfare, Breit has been rescuing pets for Lost Our Home Pet Foundation since 2008. She helps pet parents find pet-friendly rental housing when they have been forced to move and donates her full commission to cover pet deposits or other move-in fees. She takes calls by law enforcement and the community about abandoned or rescued pets, transports pets to the vet and delivers supplies to pet parents. Breit is also a member of Lost Our Home’s Organizational Health Committee, volunteers at events and regularly speaks about the rescue at Realtor classes and functions.

"Brenda is passionate about helping pets and their parents in need,” said Jodi Polanski, Executive Director of Lost Our Home Pet Foundation.  "Her selection as a finalist is a testament to her dedication to strengthening the community in which she lives and works. We value everything she does to support Lost Our Home, and are very appreciative of the National Association of Realtors for recognizing Brenda’s compassion and generosity.”

Lost Our Home Pet Foundation is the only animal shelter in Maricopa County dedicated to rescuing pets abandoned or at risk of homelessness due to foreclosure, eviction and other life challenges and finding them new homes.

This year marks the 14th year the Good Neighbor Awards program has recognized Realtors® who improve the quality of life in their communities through volunteer work. Lost Our Home Pet Foundation is the first organization that serves animals to have one of their supporters recognized as a finalist for the Good Neighbor Award.  In October, five winners will be selected from the 10 finalists to receive national media exposure and a $10,000 grant for their community cause. Five honorable mentions will receive a $2,500 grant. The winners will be featured in the November/December issue of REALTOR® Magazine.
