By: Lost Our Home

PHOENIX - July 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Lost Our Home Pet Foundation (http://www.lostourhome.org/), the only animal shelter in Maricopa County dedicated to rescuing pets abandoned or at risk of homelessness due to foreclosure, eviction and other life challenges, has been given notice that their lease will not be renewed. The property they currently occupy at 32nd St. and E. Shea Blvd. was recently purchased and will be undergoing major renovation. As a result, Lost Our Home must find a new location to lease or own within 45 days or they will face eviction. Lost Our Home opened at this location just 14 months ago, and houses a pet rescue and adoption center, pet food bank, foundation offices, and approximately 50 pets. They also have another 168 pets in foster care.

Lost Our Home is an animal foundation operated by compassionate volunteers and staff that helps people and their pets while they are facing financial hardships, housing problems or major life changes. The foundation’s services include rescue of abandoned pets, adoption services and temporary care program for pet owners going through a life crisis, a pet food bank (including delivery), and pet-friendly rental services. Lost Our Home is asking for the greater Phoenix community’s support to help them identify a suitable commercial property for a long-term lease or purchase so that they do not have to move again for many years. Ideal locations will be in north-east, central or eastern Phoenix, Scottsdale or North Tempe, and be in a high-traffic area in order to help with pet adoptions. Lost Our Home’s new home should be approximately 4,500 square feet or larger, with an outdoor area for the dogs to play.

“If you own an inexpensive vacant building that you want to do something good with, or if you can refer us to an owner, please let us know,” said Jodi Polanski, founder and executive director, Lost Our Home Pet Foundation. “We have been so fortunate to be in a great location for the past year, and as a result our team of volunteers and fosters has grown. In the past year, we’ve fed more than 2,700 pets in our pet food bank, and rescued more than 610 pets in our Temporary Care and Rescue programs. We want to continue to help people and their pets, but can only continue to do this with help from the community.”

Lost Our Home is also in need of funds to help with potential down payment and the construction that will be needed to make a building into a shelter. Lost Our Home is a non-profit 501c3 charitable organization, and donations are tax deductibleto the full extent of the law. By keeping pets and their people together, Lost Our Home can help strengthen family bonds and create stronger communities in the greater Phoenix area.

Lost Our Home has a commercial Realtor helping them, but if you are a building owner or Realtor that has a specific listing that may work for a shelter, please call Jodi Polanski at (480) 688-7899 or email at Jodi@lostourhome.org.
