Follow on Google News | Three Teams Battle in Junior Roller Derby Benefit For Breast Cancer AwarenessThe Cherry Bomb Charmers junior roller derby team with guests, the SK8 City Sirens and the ACR Stingers, will host their first Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Invitational at 6:00pm on Sunday, October 6th.
To honor victims and survivors of breast cancer, the derby skaters from the Cherry Bomb Charmers, the SK8 City Sirens, and the ACR Stingers will forego their usual team jerseys to don special pink or white jerseys for the bout. Charmers’ Two dollars of every $9 admission will be donated to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. Charmers’ fans and supporters of breast cancer awareness across the country - who may be unable attend to the bout - are encouraged to contact CBCDerby@gmail.com to request a PayPal ticket purchase invoice in order to show their support for this fantastic charity. "We are proud to team up with our derby sisters to promote awareness," said Dana Wolfe, President & General Manager of the Cherry Bomb Charmers Junior Roller Derby, "It’s important that a sport dominated by women should recognize and support the need for breast cancer awareness." The issue is an important one to Wolfe, whose mother underwent a mastectomy for breast cancer in 2007.
