Thinkify's new wireless, battery powered RFID reader chosen by Agee Race Timing

Customers will benefit from a cable-free solution for RFID race timing applicaitons that is very easy to setup and use.

RFID is fast becoming the preferred way to capture runner's times and splits in races both large and small because it can eliminate or greatly reduce the need for manual data entry. Agee Race Timing has just released their latest software for race timing incorporating RFID data capture, an automated camera for capturing runner's images, an RFID-enabled results kiosk and a feature-rich web interface for race results.
 
The central element of this system is Thinkify's new weatherproof RFID reader, the TR-290-B. The TR-290-B is battery powered, eliminating the need for power cables at track side and communicates with a host PC via a long-range, Bluetooth interface.
   
Agee Race Timing selected the TR-290-B over other RFID readers because it combines excellent read performance with extremely simple setup and operation.
 
“A great thing about the TR-290 is that readers can be setup in minutes and don't require the lengthy boot cycle of other models. The wireless Bluetooth interface means that the host computer can be located up to 100 feet away, giving me a lot of flexibility on my installation.The wireless interface also means that readers can be installed on both sides of the start/finish line without the need for expensive gantries or dangerous cable mats that can present a tripping hazard.

Designed for outdoor as well as indoor use, the TR-290-B incorporates an IP-67 rated enclosure and includes a pole mounting kit in the purchase price.
