Follow on Google News | Allegro dancers in Kent are doing amazing things!Students of Allegro Performing Arts Academy have had an incredible, successful summer!!
Allegro Performing Arts Academy is always proud of all of their students but they are especially proud of their success this summer! Their student’s hard work and great training has earned them some incredible opportunities in all aspects of the dance world. Allegro's summer started off with a national award from the KAR Dance Awards at the MGM Vegas on July 3, 2013. Similar to the Oscar's of dance, KAR awards performances to the best in each dance genre to competitive dancers across the county. Allegro's 'Too Darn Hot' piece, choreographed by Eddie Strachan, won the Best Musical Theater performance for 2013. What an honor for Allegro!! http://kartvdanceawards.com/ Allegro dancers were then asked to dance in Seattle's annual 'Dance This' performance at the Paramount Theater on July 13, 2013. 7 of Allegro's dancers were chosen by Daniel Cruz to perform with hip hop crew, 8 flavahs, best know from America's Best Dance Crew. Kendall, Keely, Alix, Taylor, Maggie, Kennedy and Drea did an amazing job and, although young, represented Allegro very professionally. Summertime for a competitive dancer means national competitions and Allegro brought home its fair share of national titles! It began with Effie Tutko, age 14, who won the dancer of the year title from Hollywood Vibe Competition in Orlando. Next, Adam Vesperman, age 15, won the Elite teen male dancer title from West Coast Dance Explosion in Vegas. Adam previously won the junior title a few years ago just before he left to go perform Billy Elliot in London for 1 1/2 years. This teen title was passed down to him from another Allegro dancer also named Adam... Adam Agostino who was the teen title holder 2012. At this same competition, Allegro earned a 4th place overall for a jazz group number entitled 'Something Goes Right.' The last, but not least, title goes to young dancer Kristina Doucette. At age 12, Kristina secured Miss JR National Spotlight at Seaside Nationals this year! All these national titles need to qualify at regionals first then go through an audition process as well as compete their solos to be considered for a national title The end of July brought two more very prestigious titles back home to Kent, WA! Allegro dancers Trinity Inay (12) and Connor Gormley (15) competed against over 120 dancers for 12 slots known as the Pulse's Elite Protégé program. These 12 dancers will travel with the Pulse on tour convention and will work directly under some of the industry's biggest choreographers. Dance shows are extremely popular right now and Allegro has its first student that will be appearing on one this fall! Trinity Inay is one of 12 featured dancers that are dancing hard for $100,000 grand prize and a Joffrey Ballet Scholarship! Allegro recently celebrated it's 17th anniversary and had a very specific training program for it's dancers. We believe in technique, ettiquette and versatility through and through. We are estactic that our dancers are having such amazing opportunities and we are excited for what is to come. Next up, Adam Agostino recently attended Juilliard's 3 week summer dance intensive. While in NYC, he experienced his 5th call back for the Broadway musical, 'Newsies!' The verdict is still out, but stay tuned for an Allegro dancer to be on Broadway near in the future! End
