Powers - Scallions Childcare The Bridge Learning Center receives State Recognition for winning the SHAPE AWARD Luella Academy - McDonough, GA August 11, 2013 Along with the 2 STAR Rating Luella Academy has received – recognizing the highest of standards – Luella Academy has been awarded the SHAPE Award. “Bright from the Start” is the organization that oversees the Childcare facilities in Georgia. They are responsible for ensuring all licensed centers are maintaining the standards of over 6,000 childcare facilities in Georgia. Quality Rated is a ratings program offered by Georgia’s Bright from the Start which evaluates five standards, including staff qualifications, teacher and student ratios, child health, family partnerships and intentional teaching practices. The Governor’s Childhood Obesity Initiative, Georgia SHAPE, has officially recognized Luella Academy as a model Early Care and Learning Program in Nutrition and Physical Activity. With this prestigious rating, they will be recognized on the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) Website and the Georgia SHAPE website, as an official Georgia SHAPE Award winner! The award comes as a result of an excellent blend of both nutrition and physical activity. The nutrition program begins with the infants and throughout every age group at the school. Properly measured portions made from high quality ingredients and the education of foods to increase and foods to decrease. The physical activity consists of scheduled activity with a curriculum based program to educate both student and parents on the importance of physically active training.
