Transline Group is first to receive accreditation for ‘Virtual’ Driver Training Innovation.

HALIFAX, U.K. - July 22, 2013 - PRLog -- The Transline Group has scored another ‘first’ after being given a unique stamp of approval by the Driving Standards Agency.

Transline’s Driver Training Division has become the UK’s first accredited Driver CPC training provider to be awarded full certification for its revolutionary  mobile LGV simulator, which has taken ‘virtual’ off road driver training to a new level since its launch at the beginning of the year.

The Driver CPC’s  ‘Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training’ (JAUPT) has endorsed Transline Group’s

LGV Simulator as an integral training module within its ‘Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving Module 4’

Transline’s National Training and Development Manager, Paul Collier, says, “This is a real coup since it’s the first time that mobile simulator training has been fully recognised and approved at this level in the LGV sector.”

“We are now able to offer training for up to seven hours, for four people under the granting of the JAUPT’S  Course approval CRS6252/806 – a ‘first’ within the industry.”

Paul adds, “Demand for our Simulator Training has been huge since it was launched at the beginning of the year and it has attracted massive attention from transport managers, health and safety professionals and, of course, drivers from all around the country - both at client sites and at major events such as ‘Driver of the Year’ shows.

“Because it is a fully mobile, self-sufficient unit, with its own power source, we can take it into training situations almost anywhere and demonstrate to transport professionals the unrivalled realism that enables HGV drivers to learn, upscale or update their skills in a safe and controlled ‘off road’ environment.

“I anticipate that this latest accreditation, by JAUPT, will provide an added boost to our Driver Training programmes and we are already well advanced in planning an expansion of the service to keep pace with demand.”

Transline Group, which is one of the UK’s top specialist recruiters in the driving and logistics, warehousing, manufacturing and IT sectors,  holds exclusive rights for the Simulator in the UK.

Built on the template of a 747 aircraft, it features highly advanced French technology and is housed in a 40ft Transline Driver Training Unit. The Simulator hit the road this year as part of the Transline service that recruits and supplies over 1500 Class 1 and 2 HGV drivers every day to some of the UK’s biggest retail and logistics organisations.

The Simulator’s realistic vision and sound features allow total immersion in a virtual three-dimensional training environment. And a comprehensive database offers a choice of vehicles, loads, weather, daylight or night conditions, traffic density and road networks that include city, country, highway and mountains.

The result is a safe, lower-cost method of controlled training especially for hazards such as icy roads, fog and low bridges.

Transline Driver Training Division is now building up a five days a week service to train up to 5,500 drivers per year with a system that reduces accidents, insurance premiums, fuel costs and delivery times.

“There is nothing like this on the UK market,” says Transline Group Managing Director, Jon Taylor. “There is a simulation procedure for every aspect of training we cover and our investment in this state of the art technology has moved HGV driver training forward into a completely new age.

“Our training service is one of the best around but it still comes at a cost to the client. Not only are some vehicles taken away from deliveries but dedicated trainers are often on site full time and there is always the risk of damage to vehicles when taking inexperienced drivers on the open road.

“When we take a driver out on the road we try to cover every eventuality but you can’t re-create things like low bridges, failed traffic lights and icy conditions to order. Even these, however, are all possible in the Simulator because there are so many programming options. You can recreate any scenario you want - and drivers can’t believe how realistic it is.

“Feedback from clients and other organisations has been quite exceptional and many are saying that Simulator training will soon be the norm for all commercial transport operators, “ added Managing Director, Paul Beasley.
