Participating patients will have several assessments performed, such as a physical examination, blood tests, and other advanced diagnostic tests that will provide a comprehensive picture of the patient’
s health. Once the results from all diagnostic tests are available the patient will be scheduled to begin the treatment phase. Patients will be in the treatment program for 8 weeks. During the treatment phase, patients will be asked to visit the clinic approximately one time per week. They will also be given a glucose meter and will be shown how to perform blood sugar measurements at home. Patients will be required to record and report these readings weekly. Some patients will also receive nutrition and fitness counseling as well as behavior modification counseling.
