Clark Colborn Releases “Baba O’Riley” Digital Single

ROCKFORD, Ill. - July 8, 2013 - PRLog -- The Who Cover Song Was Released on July 1st

On July 1st, Clark Colborn released a new digital single, his version of classic Who song “Baba O’Riley.” Colborn himself handles all the instruments and the vocals on the tune.  Clark Colborn had a busy year in 2012. The year started with the release of his second album Again in January and was followed by two digital singles, one in July and one in September.  Several videos from and about Colborn and his music surfaced in 2012. In the upcoming issue of Music Street Journal, Jason Hillenburg writes, “Clark Colborn's cover of "Baba O'Riley" makes an earnest effort to approximate the original. However, despite his fidelity, Colborn offers the song in a darker, almost muted shade. There is none of Daltrey's bombastic vocal touches. Instead, the production buries the vocals in the mix and his delivery echoes with a bitter, weary tone. If Townshend's narrator is ultimately triumphant, Colborn's take on the song offers no final victory. While the song displays strong guitar work, the drumming is the musical highlight. Keith Moon's stamp on songs like this is so individual that any drummer playing classic Who songs is playing from an immediate disadvantage. However, Colborn's cover scales higher peaks thanks to outstanding percussion that probably comes closer to equaling Moon than any Who cover I've ever heard. Overall, this is an outstanding stab at remodeling a classic for a modern audience. It takes genuine bravery to cover a song like this, but Colborn succeeds.

Colborn is currently working on a new EP and a new album. So, 2013 promises to be another busy year for Colborn. This single is just the first new release with more goodies to come.
