SURREY, British Columbia - July 5, 2013 - PRLog -- South Surrey White Rock Minor Softball Association (“SSWRMSA”) will be well represented at the BC Provincial Championships sending Thunder 95 (midget A), Thunder 99 (pee wee B) as well as Chicks With Bats (pee wee C) and White Rock Obey (bantam C). SSWRMSA also has three teams competing in the 2013 Scotiabank Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship which will be held from July 12 - 22, 2013 in Surrey, British Columbia. Thunder 95 will take part in Canadian Open futures gold division and both Thunder 97 and Thunder 98 will compete in the showcase select division.

South Surrey White Minor Softball Association’s (“SSWRMSA”) Pee Wee B Thunder 99 coached by Glenn Kirkpatrick, assistant coaches Steve Lee and James Epp and managed by Dan Saunders captured gold at the District 7 Championship and the Lower Mainland Cup and will now represent SSWRMSA at the BC Provincial Championships to be held in Abbotsford this weekend.

With well over 50 games played since the official start of the season, the Thunder 99's have put together an impressive 16-2 regular season record, along with an equally impressive tournament record that includes first place finishes in the SSWR Pee Wee B Tournament, Seattle Acers Northwest Invitational, Surrey District Championships and the Lower Mainland Cup.  Throughout the season there have been a number of offensive and defensive highlights that have brought teammates, coaches and fans to their feet, but the key to the successful season has been the ability of this team to play on both sides of the plate, regardless of the lineup out in the field.

South Surrey White Rock Thunder 99 advances to BC Provincial Championships
"We have had games where the top of our lineup has carried us offensively and we have had games in which the lower half of our order has come through with huge plays to get us through the night.  At the same time, there have been some nights in which our bats and base running have been phenomenal, and others in which if it weren't for our defense we wouldn't have had the success that we have had.  While it sounds very cliché, this team has found a way to pull each other through one way or another. We have one more goal to meet and if the girls play the way that they have all season, next weekend will a very rewarding finish to the season." said Thunder assistant coach Steve Lee.
