Belfast Tourism Future Looks in Titanic Shape

The number of tourists visiting Belfast is on the increase, results show that 2012 was a great year and forecasts for 2013 are looking even better according to local tourism sources.
 
TWICKENHAM, U.K. - July 5, 2013 - PRLog -- It was not that long ago that Belfast was probably the last place anyone would want to visit but things have changed and in a big way!

Today Belfast weekend breaks are increasingly popular and in fact the whole Northern Ireland (NI) area is attracting more holiday makers year on year with the trend to holiday in Northern Ireland set to increase.

A £1.8 million investment in a new state of the art Visitor Information Center for Belfast and other recent attractions like the new Titanic Belfast, which saw visitor numbers far out reach expectations and according to Government quotes, in the year ending Mar 31st 2013 this exceeded over 807.000 people. The encouraging news additionally was that more than half this number came from visitors from outside the province.

Whilst most visitors tend to come from the Republic of Ireland (ROI) and spend their valuable revenue mainly in the shops on luxury goods and clothing, which are often far cheaper in the North, an increasing number are coming from mainland UK and the rest on the world.

Another great boost is the number of cruise ships including Belfast as part of their itineraries, demand driven, arrivals are set to increase by 20% in 2013.  With the number of Business and Conference visitors also on the rise this can only be good news for the local economy and employment in the region going forward.
