It is certain to say there is still a very strong player base for this well loved game with the numbers going up steadily day by day. It is sufficient to say it is still winning awards over in Japan with content and crossovers into other franchises happening at a constant pace & this is not a sign of a failing free to play game.
Quick recap on Fantasy Earth Zero for those who don’t quite know all the details about what happened with this gem of a game.. Square Enix created Fantasy Earth Zero, stuff happened, Gamepot U.S.A. took over. Gamepot U.S.A. did little advertisement, except in precise areas like anime sites, yielding in very low gaming population or even people that knew the game existed. Everyone that played loved the PvP and unique game play that Fantasy Earth Zero had to offer. Gamepot U.S.A. once again in not the cleverest of moments chooses to have players fill out simple surveys to get arbs, the in game cash. Same time Gamepot U.S.A. begins releasing free in game items via game forums constantly threw limited time offer in game items. Sufficient to say there weren’t too many people buying arbs equaling in little profit. Gamepot U.S.A. announces sad news that on March 24th, 2011 Fantasy Earth Zero will be shut down. On that date March 24
th thousands upon thousands of Fantasy Earth Zero players were logged on until the last minute. The numerous Youtube videos recording the last minutes of Fantasy Earth Zero, proof enough this was a well loved game taken because of poor management and not inadequate player base.
Fantasy Earth Zero was a role play and strategy game combined with a little FPS and wasn’t just point and click like so many WoW wannabes there are now a days. Now that Aeria Games has merged with Gamepot U.S.A. a chance for that fresh breeze that was Fantasy Earth Zero to be released from the vaults is here.
