ONTARIO, Calif. - June 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Bethel United Church of Christ in Ontario, California is pleased to bring a very special Sunday Morning Sermon Series, " And Still We Rise", to our weekly worship, beginning this Sunday, June 30, 2013.

The series, presented by Dr. Sylvia Lee Mann, is a multi-part study on Personal and Congregational Transformation, and is based upon the Bible Study Guide of the same title by H Benjamin Bohren, Sandhya R.Jha, and Paula Bishop Pociecha.

Please be welcome and join us as we explore our road to transformation. Worship services are on Sunday mornings, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with 10 minutes of beautiful music for meditation.

Bethel is an Open and Affirming congregation. You can learn more about Bethel on the church's website, http://bethelontario.org

The series includes:

One-"Are We There Yet?" Exodus 16:1-3, 11-15, 35
This week focuses on the fact that transformation is a journey, sometimes a long one. We look at the exodus story as we think about the process of transformation.

Two-"A Really Big Picnic" MARK 8:1-9
This lesson reminds us that while we sometimes doubt God's ability, God not only provides for our needs but challenges us to do great things as well. By focusing on material things, sometimes we miss the ways we are crying out for spiritual nourishment.

Three-"Stop Whining and Walk!" JOHN 5:1-9
Looking at Jesus' miraculous healing of the beggar at the pool of Bethzatha, this lesson focuses on how God asks us whether we want to be transformed and how our excuses cannot get in the way of that transformation.

Four – “Limping into Transformation" GENESIS 32.22-32
Sometimes transformation involves some wrestling, some bruising, and a completely new identity. That was what happened when Jacob wrestled with the angel. The same thing happens to us when we go through transformation, and on the other side is our new identity as people who transform others!

Five-"New Life amidst Dry Bones" EZEKIEL 37.1-14
This lesson will emphasize the ways that we, in partnership with God, can transform the greater community. We'll look at the dry bones around us and ask God to help us learn how to bring those bones to life.

Six-`The Wind Power of Transformation!" ACTS 2:1-6; 38-42
In this last lesson, we look at the Pentecost story and ask what it has to teach us today as we prepare-and are empowered-to share God's transforming power in the world.
