WORCESTER, U.K. - June 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Members of staff at Postcode Anywhere have proved that they are happy to pick up the sporting gauntlet, no matter how challenging it may be.

Inspired by their new riverside offices, Postcode Anywhere entered 2013’s Race the Dragon Regatta event and after just one training session, went on to secure 4th place of the 22 teams entered and the Minor Cup trophy.

In the recent event Postcode Anywhere joined crews from all around Worcestershire to battle it out head-to-head on the water. Many local businesses and organisations were invited to compete for the prestigious Lea & Perrins trophy while raising money for a good cause.

CEO of Postcode Anywhere Guy Mucklow, who had hoped that his team of enthusiastic, novice dragoneers would put up a good fight, was obviously pleasantly surprised by their unprecedented triumph and commented: “The Dragon Boat Race is a fantastic event for a very worthy local charity. Not only does it help to raise much needed funds, it also provides the participating companies with a fun-packed day that encourages team-work and friendly competitiveness.

“We were all extremely excited about taking part for the first time this year particularly as we have now relocated into the city centre. It has inspired us to prepare and equip ourselves in terms of skills, training and technique for next year’s event. In fact I believe that a number of our crew have already signed up to join our neighbours, The Worcester Dragon Boat Club”

This year, the organisers have opted to support Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign (http://www.everybodyknowssomebody.co.uk/). The Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign is a registered charity with the overall aim of raising £1.8 million.

Money raised from Sunday’s event will be used to fund the establishment of a new, dedicated Breast Unit (http://www.everybodyknowssomebody.co.uk/index.php?option=...) at Worcester Royal Hospital for use by women and men across Worcestershire for all breast related issues.

The Dragon Regatta event has become part of the City’s heritage as Worcester’s cultural and economic history has been built up over the years because of its links with the River Severn and its network of canals.

With 22 organisations competing from throughout South Worcestershire including participants from Droitwich, Malvern, Worcester and beyond it is a fantastic way to cement community relations as well as raising money for a good cause.

Teams representing nursing professionals, accountants, lecturers and even a team from the Worcester News participated in Sunday’s event.

Not only does the event attract local people but teams come from all parts of the UK to participate including the neighbouring counties of Shropshire and Herefordshire and as far as Swindon, Wiltshire.
