Canadian Archtop Guitar Luthier Creates 14-String Archtop Guitar

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - June 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Fine Archtops proudly announces a unique archtop guitar commissioned project completed by luthier partner Jean-Pierre Laplante.

Fine Archtops is a website dedicated to bringing those whose create and admire archtop guitars together. Fine Archtops partners with luthier to showcase their talents.

Jean-Pierre Laplante has been fashioning guitars in Kingston, Ontairo for 15 years and is a partner of Fine Archtops.

Laplante accepted a commission project from Felix Martin, a Venezuelan guitarist. The venture included a 14- string, double-necked and left-handed archtop guitar with a built-in PAF pickups.

"This project is certainly unique and artistic," said Steve Wagner, owner of Fine Archtops. "The result is absolutely incredible!"

This guitar had two parallel fingerboards, one with eight strings and the other with six strings, to make up the 14 requested. The lower bout is 17 inches wide and has 3 inch body depth.

Martin is a skilled guitarist, known for creating the 14-string guitar and using all 14 strings when he performs. He calls his musical style Jazz Metal and he has toured over 17 counties over his career.
