The Woods Gifts Celebrates 40 Years in Business

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. - Sept. 23, 2025 - PRLog -- The Woods Gifts is proud to celebrate 40 years in business. Since its beginning in 1985, the store has grown from a small shop along the Mississippi River in Minneapolis to a beloved destination for one-of-a-kind treasures in Maple Grove.

Founded as Davlins by Dave and Linda Looney, the store began as a passion project dedicated to fine craftsmanship and unique handmade gifts. After moving to various locations, the current store in Maple Grove was built in 1997 and has remained a landmark, drawing visitors with its unique product selection and deep ties to the community.

The Woods Gifts is proud to feature and sell products from local artists and merchants in their store. This has been their business model from the start. The gift store has built relationships with local entrepreneurs, providing a retail location where they can sell their unique products.

"From our opening in 1985 at St. Anthony Main in Minneapolis, we have sought out and supported talented local craftspeople," said Dave Looney. "We've always enjoyed connecting our customer with the artists who make the products we feature. Gifts have more meaning when you know the story behind them."

In addition to shopping, The Woods Gifts hosts several events throughout the year. They have an annual spring celebration with the Easter Bunny, Mom's Day Out around Mother's Day, Girls Night Out coming in October and many more. Local vendors and food trucks are often featured at these events, along with specials in the store, prize drawings and more.

An event coming up this fall includes the Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 27. This event offers fun for the whole family including a petting zoo and photos with "Hap the Bear." Their Holiday Walk in the Woods event every November kicks off the holiday season, including photos with Santa Claus, live reindeer, product demos and more.

To celebrate 40 years in business, The Woods Gifts is having 40 days of specials leading up to Doe's Weekend, November 7-9. During these 40 days, there will be a weekly special, spotlights on local vendors and employees, featured items and more. Beginning September 28, The Woods will be sharing the specials with their newsletter subscribers and on their social media accounts.
