HTC Officially Announced The Butterfly S

June 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Last year, HTC released a high-end device called the HTC Butterfly. The phone was actually the first to sport a 5 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1080p, a feature which is now becoming increasingly common on new smartphone models. At the time of its launch, the HTC Butterfly was one of the company’s most advanced handsets on the market, and clocked up impressive sales figures in a number of markets.

Unfortunately, the device was only released in a limited number of countries, such as homeland of its manufacturer, Taiwan as well as Japan where it went by the name of the HTC J Butterfly. HTC as recently announced a new version of the device, called the HTC Butterfly S and it brings a number of upgraded features over its predecessor.

Slash Gear has recently reported on details of the device, which will include a 5 inch 1080p super LCD3 display, 1.9 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage along with a micro SD slot. Furthermore, the handset includes a 4 Ultrapixel camera, a feature which debuted on the company’s current flagship model, the HTC One. The device is also equipped with a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera, and plenty of innovative camera software features like HTC Zoe. Other features utilised on the handset which are also found on the HTC One include BoomSound and Beats Audio, with Android Jellybean as its operating system of choice, and of course the HTC Sense 5.0 UI, which allows users to customise life data feeds to the home screen from social networking sites, calendars and news etc, thanks to the BlinkFeed feature. Slash Gear reports that the device is set to be launched in China in July, but no information has been revealed regarding its availability in other countries. It’s currently unknown whether the device will be launched in markets like the UK, as it would of course be likely to affect sales of the HTC One.
