By: Litchfield Bancorp For 17 years, Litchfield Bancorp’s annual Community Day was held on the grounds of the Litchfield bank location. This year, the bank will combine their annual event with the KiDSMARATHON Final-Mile Celebration, a school-based, experiential- Additional attractions will include the Forbes Flyers jump rope team from Torrington, a bouncy house, an inflatable slide and entertainment by Harlequin Productions. Bottled water and Dole Fruit Bowls will be offered FREE to participants. More than 500 Litchfield County elementary school students will run the final mile of their KiDSMARATHON, which encourages children to exercise and eat healthy. Under Dixon's program, children ages 7-12 complete the final mile of the marathon, accomplishing a total distance of 26.2 miles by running incremental distances over an eight to 10-week period. Plumb Hill will host the final mile of KIDSMARATHON for the fifth year, on the day before the Litchfield Hills Road Race. Rod Dixon, founder and President of KIDSMARATHON Foundation, the winner of the 1983 New York City Marathon and 1972 Olympic bronze medalist in track for his native New Zealand, will be at Plumb Hill for the grand finale. Plumb Hill Playing Fields Inc. is a nonprofit organization that maintains the track, soccer fields and softball field at Plumb Hill.
