FORT WORTH, Texas - May 30, 2013 - PRLog -- This can be a very daunting task for parents when they are looking for the right martial art style for their child. How do you pick from all of the different styles out there? Do you pick a stand up only martial arts, do you pick a grappling only martial art or do you look for something that is a mixture of the two? In my personal opinion I believe it you want a martial art that is a mixture of as many martial arts as possible. That is why for parents looking for the best martial art for their child I recommend mixed martial arts training,

Children must be able to defend themselves while standing, in the clinch and on the ground. If you can’t defend yourselves in those three areas a very big piece of the self-defense puzzle is missing for your child if something where to happen to them in a self-defense situation. But also in our program we don’t believe in just teaching children how to punch, kick and grapple, we also work to help build your child’s confidence and self-esteem. You want to make sure that the class that you enroll your child in is a positive environment were your child can grow and become a better person while their learning self-defense. And if they decided to compete while become a champion on the mat you also want them to become a champion in life.

So make sure when you look for a martial arts school for your child that you look for a school that has a life skills program or something very similar to that. While your child each month is learning a new physical skill, you also want them learning a life skill that will develop them into a better person. Look for a high energy class, look for a reward system for a better grades, look for a program that has a bully prevention program and also teaches leadership skills. And make sure that they are taking a martial art this is teaching them real self-defense skills and not just katas and techniques based on theory. You want to make sure your child is getting to practice their techniques against a resisting opponent, so they know that what they are learning will work under pressure.
