Portable Measuring Device for Open Top Loads (AAR) Standards

[Grapevine Texas] Executive Teknology released it second version of their Portable Measuring Device (PMD) that includes enhancements over their previous version. The PMDis an advanced method of accurately measuring High Wide Loads within 3/8th of an inch and meets the Association of American Railroads (AAR) Open Top Loading Rules.  The current (old) method is time consuming, requires multiple personnel and comes with hazard risks such as injuries.

Measurements are accomplished with near pinpoint accuracy without the use of ladders, strings, plumb lines and levels.  The PMD is now approved on the Leica TS02 which provides users of the device an easier means of seeing their targets utilizing a built in laser.  The red laser offers a quicker process over the manual method.  Users simply point the red laser beam on the target point then press, “Get Measurement” from their device capturing the data.  The process takes less than 21 minutes from original setup to measuring distances between two points even on different plains.  To make a point- when using the PMD, one target point can be closer to the Leica device while the other (2nd) point could be on the other side of the car (assuming one can see it with the Leica).  The distance between these two points will be reported back with near pinpoint accuracy.  This valuable time and accuracy can take hours using ladders, strings, plumb lines and levels.

The updated User Interface supports Microsoft OS.  According to Greg Willers, Executive Teknology Director of North American Sales, “Our clients wanted an Enterprise solution that runs parallel to their other corporate processes.  Utilizing Microsoft, the data collected from our PMD offers integration into Web Spreadsheets and future proofs further development.  In short, whatever needs our customers have with the collected measurement data; we want to be able to say we can get the job done and do it”.
