WASHINGTON - May 22, 2013 - PRLog -- He becomes only the third Fellow in the history of the SIF Association, and is awarded this honor in recognition of his outstanding technical contributions and leadership in single-handedly developing the “SIF REST Developers Sandbox” (SIF-RS), which presents REST developers with an immediate step-by-step way to build SIF Implementation Specification (US) 3.0 standard conforming software solutions today.

Xavier currently serves as Principle Developer for K12 at Pearson Education. With the gracious permission of his employer, Xavier was given professional time, to which he added a significant amount of his own personal time, to develop the SIF-RS functionality. He architected SIF-RS to map both the SIF 3.0 Base Architecture and Infrastructure Services documents to the REST platform, and the result graphically provides users with a firsthand experience of both the requirements and the power of these new APIs.

Today the SIF-RS site serves as a detailed SIF 3.0 reference implementation with an associated human interface to help REST programmers understand and use the underlying infrastructure. It allows either the user of that interface, or a client application, to first register and provision itself, and then securely and robustly create, read, update and delete selected SIF 3.0 data objects which represent the “on the wire” forms of their counterparts in the Common Education Data Standard (CEDS) produced by the National Center for Educational Statistics.

“This is truly an amazing achievement, and it allows SIF developers a real hands-on experience during their software development” states Dr. Larry Fruth, CEO/Executive Director, SIF Association.  “It is a major step forward for the SIF Association to provide SIF-RS, as it both illustrates the power of the new release and significantly shortens the time it will take our vendor members to create and deliver truly compatible SIF 3.0 interoperable solutions.  Xavier has shown what an outstanding SIF member and mentor he is, leading by example in the true spirit of our volunteer community”.
