SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas - May 16, 2013 - PRLog -- At four leading healthcare IT trade shows this month, Access will demonstrate updated versions of paperless solutions that enable hospitals to integrate electronic forms with electronic patient signatures (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rZce7qvduw) into EHRs.

Typically, registering a new or returning patient involves a time-consuming, costly, paper-driven process. When a registrar sets up a patient in the HIS, they have to remember which forms to pull. Next, the patient fills in redundant information on several forms and signs with a pen.

Then, the registrar makes copies of these documents, gives one set to the patient and sends another to the HIM department. An HIM staff member then scans and manually indexes each page into the EHR via the content management system. Forms can be misplaced or incorrectly indexed, and outdated versions can be used, jeopardizing compliance.

Access solutions transform this process. Now, the Access system generates a customized e-forms packet and maps data from the HIS onto each form, eliminating the need for redundant information. Once the patient completes the forms, they apply a secure electronic signature via a tablet.

The Access system sends the e-forms, signatures and biometrics that prove the patient signed the form directly into the EHR. This fast, paperless process saves time for staff, improves patient engagement and gets patients the care they need faster. There are no lost forms or indexing errors, and only the latest versions are available via the electronic forms library.

Other Access solutions include a clinical data bridge (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0o6nMpRvOLU)that enables hospitals to integrate data from clinical systems and medical devices – including EKG traces, perinatal documents and colonoscopy reports – into EHRs with no loss of color or image quality.

In addition, Access offers a paperless forms and workflow suite (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76SfDhM1UnE) that speeds and simplifies expense reporting, onboarding, physician referrals and any other forms-driven process.

“We’re excited to show hospitals how our products can help them fill the gaps in their EHR solution,” said Access founder and CEO Tim Elliott. “Our goal is to help them deliver the best possible patient care and service, get rid of paper and eliminate daily challenges.”
