FREDERICK, Md. - May 14, 2013 - PRLog -- The Business Factory of Frederick is partnering with Kids Are Heroes, Inc., to bring a seminar on reputation management for social media appealing especially to young adults in May.  In the true spirit of collaboration and focusing on presenting community-focused events involving non-profits and small businesses, this partnership establishes our focus on youth and creativity for the month of May at the Business Factory.

Kids Are Heroes, Inc., a non-profit organization empowering children to become leaders through volunteering, is partnering with the Business Factory to bring this important topic to Frederick and raise funds for the organization’s mission. Gabe O’Neill is a co-founder of the organization along with his daughter MaryMargaret. O’Neill speaks publicly in the region about the benefits of youth volunteering, and also about preventing young adults from sabotaging their reputations through social media.

O’Neill will lead the educational presentation, entitled “Make or Break Your Future with Social Media”, where he will be detailing all the latest trends in social media use as it applies to teenagers. The session will be offered at the Factory on Wednesday, May 22 for tweens in grades 8 through 12 from 6:30 to 7:45 PM with a Q&A session following.  “We want to teach young adults how to properly use the various social media outlets, and prevent them from sabotaging their reputations through social media,” O’Neill said.

Kids Are Heroes® is a testament to the power of social media. Founded in 2008, KAH is now an international organization having expanded to sixteen countries. Kids Are Heroes enjoys more than 74,000 followers on Twitter, and has been utilizing social media since early on in its history.

“Kids Are Heroes was born when my daughter MaryMargaret asked me to create a website so she could help animals,” said O’Neill. “We foster an environment where it is second nature for kids to volunteer. We believe all kids, regardless of socioeconomic status, can make a powerful impact on others, and we know how much it benefits those who are involved.”

Enrollment for the class is $10, and the participant must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.  Proceeds will benefit Kids Are Heroes, Inc.
