James A. Cusumano has worn many hats throughout his highly successful and eclectic career; starting out as a 50s rock n' roll recording artist, then moving on as a research scientist, and finally a Silicon Valley entrepreneur who founded two public companies.

Dr. Cusumano, born April 14, 1942, obtained a BA in 1964 and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry in 1968 from Rutgers University. Upon graduation, he served at Exxon Research and Engineering Company as a research scientist, and from 1971 to 1974 as the Director of Catalysis Research and Development at their Corporate Research Laboratory. He co-founded Catalytica, Inc. in 1974 in the heart of California's Silicon Valley. One of its business units, Catalytica Pharmaceuticals grew in less than 5 years from several people to 2,000 employees, $500 million in revenue and $1 billion market value on the NASDAQ. After the sale of Catalytica Pharmaceuticals, he founded Chateau Wally Films, which produce the successful film, What Matters Most, released in more than 50 countries.  He subsequently moved to Prague, where he and his wife, Inez renovated Chateau Mcely, a 17th century castle, operated since 2006 as a five-star, holistic hotel, spa and forest retreat.

On the personal front, Dr. Cusumano enjoys hiking and mountaineering. He has two grown daughters, Actress, Polly Cole and Doreen Nelsen, five grandchildren, and lives in Prague.
