| Swansea's new Roller Skating eventA new event will take place this summer at Museum Park From Wednesday August 14 to Tuesday August 27. The Summer Roller will incorporate a 30-metre x 20-metre Admiral roller rink, beach area, funfair, food units and timetabled free entertainment
By: City and County of Swansea Disco tracks will be pumping out in the background and will add to the nostalgic feel of the event when participants take to the rink. A beach area will also be set up, complete with buckets, spades, deck chairs and picnic tables. Cllr Nick Bradley, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “This is a fantastic idea that will replicate the fun and feel of Waterfront Winterland at the same location in the summer months. The Summer Roller will be great fun for children and for anyone looking to roll back the years and recapture their youth. “But events like these are also important for local traders because they attract thousands of people into the city centre and Maritime Quarter. “This is just one of many forthcoming events over the summer months forming part of the Swansea Bay Festival. The variety of what’s being planned means there’ll be something to cater for all ages and interests.” A funfair will also be set up at Summer Roller as well as children’s entertainment, food and drink. Admiral Managing Director, Sue Longthorn: “We are delighted to sponsor the Admiral Summer Roller Rink this year. Supporting events in our communities is very important to us and the opportunity to be involved in both a summer and winter event with the Admiral Ice Rink is exciting. I am sure that loads of our staff will be getting their skates on to join in with the summer fun”. Summer Roller will be open from 10am to 9pm every day while the event is on.
