SAN DIEGO - May 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Keeping with the tradition of Mother’s Day, Red Sails Inn offers a special Prime Rib dinner with all the fixings for that special woman in your life. Dinner starts at 2:00 PM with Prime Rib as a favorite along with their normal great menu items.

Red Sails Inn has always been well known for their seafood dinners such as Bacon Wrapped, Crab Stuffed, Jumbo Shrimp, Coconut Jumbo Shrimp, Grilled Calamari Cutlets, Macadamia Nut Halibut, and Grilled Northwestern Salmon and many other selections. This year they added many comfort food selections so that they have something for everyone.

Their claim to fame has always been their patio dining when the weather allows it. Their patio sits right on the water with luxury yachts tied just a few feet from the patio. Locals and tourists alike come here for breakfast all summer long and well into the fall. This has also become a great place to enjoy Happy Hour with a variety of drink specials and a local beer selection.

Located in the Point Loma area of San Diego they are in one of the 10 best locations to visit according to Tripadvisor. Red Sails Inn is located on Shelter Island which has water on three sides, so it isn’t really an island per se, but is a great area to visit.

Point Loma is a special place with lots of great places to take a walk on the Bay or go to Cabrillo National Monument at the top of Point Loma. The monument is named after Juan Rodriquez Cabrillo who was the first European to set foot on what is the West Coast in 1542. There is a lot of history in the museum that tells the story as well as a great deal of the local eco history.

History is a part of the mission of our national parks and Cabrillo National Monument is no exception. Combining 16th century exploration with a 19th century lighthouse makes this a very special place to visit. It’s especially fun for kids to visit and become a Junior Ranger with a cool badge. The kids also like visiting the tide pools and learning more about the ecosystem.  Ranger walks are available during low tide periods and there are movies and slide shows to teach a little about the ecosystem.

Cabrillo National Monument is a short distance from Red Sails Inn so it is a great place to visit either before or after a great meal. It makes a visit to Point Loma a win-win when you combine a great meal at a popular San Diego seafood restaurant with a trip to a National Monument.
