By: PS Racing Shanghai, China Today, PS Racing’s Neric Wei completed his first Asia Formula Renault race in Round 3 of the 2013 AFR Championship, held at the famous Shanghai International F1 Circuit. Despite it being his first-ever AFR event, Wei gave a strong showing for PS Racing. Neric got off to a good start, picking up a position by turn two. In the second lap, unfortunately two ART drivers came together in turn two after one spun across the track, moving Wei up to 8th overall. With a pass on FRD’s Tommy Chan in lap 6, Neric moved to 7th overall, just behind FRD’s Kenneth Ma in 6th. With not quite enough speed to get past the highly experienced Ma, Neric was still able to hold onto 7th overall by the finish, at times having to fend off Chan in 8th. The finishing result put Neric on the podium as 3rd in the Asian Class. In the press conference that followed, Wei told reporters about his excitement of completing his first Asia Formula Renault event, and first formula race event in his driving career, at such a famous and technically challenging circuit. With a very respectable showing in his first AFR event, Neric was able to put PS Racing on the podium and is looking forward with anticipation to AFR Rounds 5&6 at the team’s home track, Zhuhai International Circuit, at the famous Pan Delta Race Festival on June 15th.
