About the Author:

Winner of the 2010 Legendary Maine Guide Award, Gil Gilpatrick is a recognized outdoor authority who has spent his life in outdoor Maine. As a Master Maine Guide for over 40 years, Gil has led more than 100 wilderness expeditions on the Allagash and other challenging Maine wilderness rivers. He was an Outdoor Resources teacher for nearly 30 years, and has helped many young people to learn to live and love the outdoors. A prolific writer, Gil is the author of several books, a member of the New England Outdoor Writers Association, and a columnist for Northwoods Sporting Journal. A life member of the Maine Professional Guides Association, he is also a member of the Maine Guides Advisory Board, the body that oversees the testing of prospective guides.
