1-UTAK Endorses Angara, Aquino, Magsaysay

METRO MANILA, Philippines - April 18, 2013 - PRLog -- On Wednesday, 1-Utak endorsed Angara, Bam Aquino and Ramon Magsaysay  Jr.,  all from Team Pnoy, after a general membership meeting that was attended by various transport organizations from across the country.

Angara, Aquino and Magsaysay were chosen by the 1-Utak based on their commitment to social and economic legislation deemed as important to the lives of transport workers and the sector’s stakeholders.

The 1-Utak has a representative in the House of Representatives and is currently broadening its transport-centric coalition, said lawyer Vigor Mendoza.

Angara, Aquino and Magsaysay thanked the 1-Utak for the support.

Angara said that he was fully aware of the issues that confront the transport sector.

Angara has the support of at least 10 party-list groups , among them the anti-corruption group CIBAC and the trade union group Trade Union Congress of the Philippines.

They include the You Against Corruption and Poverty (YACAP), An Waray, Ang Asosayon Sang Mangunguma Bisaya-Owa (AAMBIS-OWA), Alay Buhay, Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC), Ateacher, Aangat Tayo, Abante Mindanao Inc. (ABAMIN) and Bagong Henerasyon.

The party-list groups said Angara’s economic and educational reform agenda is consistent with their advocacies and that they shared Angara’s aspiration to help improve the life of every Filipino family.

Peasant party-list groups, education groups and party-lists from the elderly have also expressed support for Angara, the author and co-author of 50 laws, including the Expanded Senior Citizens Act, the Free Kindergarten Law and the Magna Carta of Women.
