Hate appeared early in VISHAVJIT SINGH’s life before he even knew it had a name. It poured in from the television screen, from strangers on the street who made jokes or compared him to cartoon characters, based on nothing but his turban, the sign of his Sikh faith. By the time he had put a name to this, he had already succumbed under its weight.
