BELGRAVIA, U.K. - April 2, 2013 - PRLog -- A study carried out in America has shown that bimatoprost, commonly known as Latisse, can help to regrow eyelashes that were lost to chemotherapy at a rate faster than not using any treatment at all.

The paper published by Dr Glaser, an American professor of dermatology, followed 130 patients that had finished chemotherapy and lost most of their eyelashes.

In the study, 96 of them used bimatoprost (Latisse) each day for one year. The remaining 34 applied a placebo of water for 6 months before changing to bimatoprost (Latisse) for the rest of the year.

After 4 months, over one third (37.5 percent) of the followed patients using bimatoprost (Latisse) had eyelashes that were noticeably longer when assessed by experts.

After one year, over 90% of all patients had significantly longer eyelashes with most feeling that they exceeded their pre-chemotherapy levels.

Samples of eyelash hair were taken from the patients and measured straight after chemotherapy then 12 months after treatment with bimatoprost. They found that the average improvements were a 180% increase in thickness, 28.5% longer and 14.4% darker eyelashes. Note that these increases are particularly dramatic since their lashes were reduced due to chemotherapy.
