Rain, Sleet or Snow will NOT keep us from fighting for OUR EQUALITY

ENOLA, Pa. - March 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Harrisburg, PA – March 25, 2013 – The central PA chapter of Marriage Equality for Pennsylvania and the Capital Region Stonewall Democrats have joined forces to mobilize the local LGBT community and Ally Supporters to hold a gathering to support equality. Our event will take place in front of the Harrisburg Division Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse on Tuesday, March 26th at 4:30pm.

The Harrisburg event is 1 of over 170 events across 50 states and Washington, DC. When discussing events that have already taken place this weekend, Heather Cronk, Co-Director of GetEQUAL.org stated, "as I've been talking with organizers for the over 170 events in all 50 states that are taking place this week, the one thing that's clear is that we are in the middle of a sea change in this country. From Casper, Wyoming, to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, event organizers are stunned by the number of people who are turning out for events -- many times more than they've ever seen for events before. Marriage equality is supported by folks from Mississippi to Montana to Maine -- and these events are a clear public demonstration of that support."

Katie Somers, Volunteer Leader of Marriage Equality for Pennsylvania – HLLY Chapter says, “now is the time, with societal support being at an all-time high; having a sitting president that incorporated equality for all in his inaugural address and who publically acknowledged his support for gay marriage and with local businesses in the capital region becoming gay-friendlier work places by offering same-sex health benefits to their employees, for us, as a local voice, to live loud, stand proud and fight for our equality.”

The event will start at 4:30pm with participants holding up signs for equality before moving on to the rest of the program that includes speakers, musical performances, moment of silence and finally letting our lights shine for equality.

Where:  Harrisburg Division Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse, 3rd and Walnut Streets, Harrisburg, PA. In addition to the Harrisburg event, United for Marriage is helping to coordinate more than 170 gatherings in all 50 states across the country.

MARRIAGE EQUALITY FOR PA – HLLY CHAPTER is the central Pennsylvania Chapter of Marriage Equality for Pennsylvania. We are a statewide organization with local chapters. Our chapter in central PA seeks to work with our state chapter and other organizations and mobilize our local LGBT community as well as our Allies, to create awareness of issues pertaining in the LGBT community, most notably: marriage equality and discrimination.

CAPITAL REGION STONEWALL DEMOCRATS are a Political Action Committee, an organized group of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) citizens and straight allies in Pennsylvania’s Capital Region, including Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, and nearby communities.
