Vimeo empowers the independent filmmaker.

NEW YORK - March 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Earlier this week the popular video hosting site, Vimeo.com, announced the launch of their new "On Demand" platform which allows filmmakers and content creators to digitally distribute creative content without the need for a third party. The platform also allows filmmakers to control the price and duration that purchasers will be able to view material, while offering a more than generous revenue split.

Filmmaker, Joe Stauffer, has decided to exclusively use Vimeo's new feature as the sole means of distributing all of his upcoming projects.

"It's a way for filmmakers and content creators to avoid being taken advantage of. Other platforms like Netflix want indie filmmakers to pay to stream on their sites and that just makes no sense to me. On top of that, we would have to pay a distributor to give it to them. The internet is essentially free, we should be in control over our projects and be able to cut out the greedy parties that simply want to exploit indie filmmakers" - Stauffer

Stauffer explained that he has already released his directorial debut titled Pieces Of Talent on the new platform in hopes that he will be able to recoup the $80,000 budget that was spent making the film. He is screening his film for only $1.00.

"We as as artists don't make films with the goal of reaping huge profits, we make films to tell stories. Our plans are to make back our original budget of $80,000 and then make the film free on Vimeo for everyone to download, upload, torrent, whatever they want to do with it". - Stauffer
