MI Dealers See Automakers with Double-Digit Increases for February

March 7, 2013 - PRLog -- DETROIT – MI dealers (http://miautotimes.com/) may have already heard the final count for their own automakers as all of the Detroit Three saw increases in auto sales for the month of February. Each automaker seems to have gained for specific models in their lineup.

General Motors saw a final increase of 7 percent with its final units sold at 224,314 units. One of the highest gains for GM in February was the final sales number of its Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks. At an increase of 30 percent, the Silverado was the highest gain in truck sales in February. The Chevrolet Equinox midsize crossover was second with a 16 percent increase.

Although MI dealers didn’t see GM be the highest gain in February of the Detroit Three, it wasn’t the lowest either. Chrysler may have only gained 4 percent this February over last year’s with 139,015 units sold, and the final numbers may have been less than expected, but this February marks the 35th consecutive month Chrysler has increased in sales.

Other numbers for Chrysler include:

·         Dodge brand sales in February rose 30 percent

·         Jeep brand sales fell 16 percent

·         Chrysler brand sales fell 7 percent

As for the last of the Detroit Three, Ford increased 21 percent in February with 195,822 units sold. Ford also had an increase by 21 percent for its crossovers and sport-utility vehicles. Its most popular models, the F-Series trucks, saw a 15.3 percent gain.

All in all it seems to be a positive moving year for the Detroit Three as well as the rest of the automotive industry. MI dealers may have been excited to see how well their automaker did, and they will be able to see how they continue to perform as the year continues.
