Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort Launches its Annual Spring Race Series

March 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (http://www.skilasvegas.com/winter/index.html) (LVSSR) launches its annual Spring Race Series on Sat., March 9. 2013. The event that’s open to skiers of all ages and athletic abilities will also be held Sat., March 16 and March 23.   All types of skiers and riders are encouraged to participate including telemark, alpine and downhill skiers, as well as snowboarders. Teams must compete in all three races to be eligible for the grand prize. Registration is $20 per person for the series, must include three to five competitors per team, and is available at LVSSR’s guest services office. Substitutes are accepted providing the minimum number of team members is met per race. Registration fee does not include the cost of lift tickets or equipment rental.

Each week, teams that earn the top three combined times of the day qualify for exciting weekly prizes including restaurant gift cards, tickets to the Mob Museum and other prizes from UNLV, Nation Essentials and more. Each competitor of the series winning team will receive an LVSSR 2013/2014 Season pass.    

“The Spring Race Series has become a favorite tradition for our local guests,” said Kevin Stickelman, LVSSR president and general manager. “It’s a great way for skiers of all abilities to test their skills and to challenge themselves. In addition, many local businesses find it to be an excellent team-building tool as well as a fun social event.”

The Spring Race League is part of the NASTAR (National Standard Race) racing program at LVSSR.  As the largest public grassroots ski racing program in the world, more than 95,000 participants compete throughout the season to compete within age and gender groups to win platinum, gold, silver and bronze medals.  

Developed in 1968 by SKI Magazine, NASTAR provides recreational racers with an opportunity to compete and compare scores with friends and family members throughout the United States on a universal scoring system.  The NASTAR.com website records and ranks each participant on resort, state and national scale.
