United Kingdom warned to prepare for weather extremes – EUM Consultants discuss

Weather is always a huge subject in the United Kingdom, and this year has been one of the most bi polar years in terms of weather the United Kingdom has seen. EUM Consultants discuss the changes, the warnings and what comes next.

In 2012, the United Kingdom was battered with heavy winds and rain, scorching sun and drought, snow and ice let alone the floods that flooded over the news towards the end of the year. We faced the second wettest year on record in 2012, with an average of one in every five days consisting of rain. Lots of rain and floods sounds about right for the United Kingdom? Along with one in five days consisting of rain, on average, one in four saw droughts. “Many rivers saw the lowest and highest points ever recorded, the weather has been so up and down, and Britain needs to get prepared” Says Mark McAlear, Managing Director of EUM Consultants, based in Birmingham.

Vast warnings are going out today; to get Britain prepared for what is to come, with the United Kingdom under attack from severe drought and floods last year, something has to be done. “A system should be put in place to re-direct flood water to areas in drought” Says Alex Tsimboykas, Sales Director of EUM Consultants. “With global warming heating up the earth, the temperature could be causing the extreme weather, defences need to be placed to help when the extreme weather happens, but also, more needs to be done to stop it happening in the first place”.

The government are heavily working on defence systems for when the floods and droughts happen again, however they are also on board making the world a greener place. “With new initiatives and schemes being created almost on a weekly basis by the government to make homes and businesses more energy efficient,  everyone really needs to step up their game to keep the world green and their carbon footprint low” says Mark McAlear, managing Director of EUM Consultants.

With global warming looking like it is set to stay, temperatures increasing slowly, this ‘weird weather’ will not be going anywhere for a while. While the government do what they can to help with initiatives and defences, the best advice is to get some wellington boots and brace yourself for the year ahead if 2012 is anything to go by.
