SEM LINK Launches Indie Go Go Campaign to Raise Funds and Awareness for its Programs

March 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc. (SEM Link), a national nonprofit organization that promotes K-12 student achievement and career exploration in math and science, launched its Indie Go Go Campaign, SEM Link: Exposing Urban Youth to STEM and STEM Careers. The fundraising goal for the campaign is to raise $15,000.00 between February 26-March, 25, 2013. Proceeds will support programs and events for the remaining 2012-13 program year (March through May) in the three urban areas SEM Link serves; Atlanta, DMV area (DC, Maryland and Virginia) and San Francisco Bay Areas. All contributions to the campaign are tax-deductible and can be made on the campaign’s website igg.me/at/semlink

Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc. (SEM Link) was founded to address the main barrier that prevent urban youth from pursuing STEM careers; exposure to the STEM community. SEM Link programs provide opportunities for youth to meet and interact with members of the STEM community and engage in hands-on STEM activities. The interactions between SEM Link staff and volunteers, whether one time or continuous, give youth access to positive role models and a vision of what is possible for them as well as a road map to pursue their goals. “Urban areas are a great place for youth to get have educational experiences both inside and outside of the classroom to prepare them for post-graduation opportunities” said Tokiwa T.
