Debut fiction "The Promise of Stardust" confronts difficult end of life moral and medical issues

Author Priscille Sibley's debut novel illuminates end of life entanglements, addressing the complex process of grief and how it affects survivors. It's a compelling drama that grips the heart and moves readers to wonder, what would I do?

March 1, 2013 - PRLog -- The Promise of Stardust by Priscille Sibley is a powerful debut. New York Journal of Books reviewer Diane Brandley called upon her long term experience in nursing and healthcare to infuse this review with context.

Ms. Brandley introduces the story:

“A woman with everything to live for sustains a mortal injury, persisting in a
vegetative state. ...For two families it is an issue they must face squarely—one that requires objective appraisal and ideally, consensus.
Until . . . they learn the patient, Elle Beaulieu, is pregnant.”

In its telling the story tackles complex ethical and moral issues. Ms. Brandley notes the author's skill;

“… only a talented writer would be able to hold the reader’s attention as the issues and complications become tangled in a no-exit maelstrom. Priscille Sibley,... deftly intertwines health, legal, and ethical issues, balancing the clinical and human aspects into a believable story. "

An interview with the author accompanies this review. Ms  Sibley's experiences as a Neonatal Nurse were early inspiration. Brandley also notes the author's focus on the male vantage point. Ms. Sibley's answer reveals that she is a bold writer;

“If I failed, writing the story from a man’s point of view would still be a great learning experience for me as a writer. I remained cognizant of my narrator’s every reaction his body language, even his word choices.”
