She set up what is thought to be the first microcomputer laboratory in the U.S. for teaching writing and pioneered in Computer-Assisted Composition [her coinage]. From c. 1983, she consulted and provided keynote addresses, talks, and workshops on academic computing at conferences across the country and for organizations (e.g., the AEtna Institute for Corporate Education, the IBM Academic Computing Conference). She later pioneered in the adaptation of Deming and Total Quality to higher education. As a creative writer, she has written 40 plays; published 8 poetry chapbooks, 4 full-length poetry collections, 100+ short stories (one in Del Sol Press’s Best of 2004: The Robert Olen Butler Prize Anthology), a novella, three books, and a short story collection; and has other books forthcoming.
