Feb. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Ten years ago, when my wife and I moved from our tiny apartment to our newly built spacious home, we wanted to save money by moving all our furniture and other items ourselves. We rented a UHaul truck and moved from Lewis Center to Hilliard. After we exhausted ourselves by putting all our “stuff” from the apartment into the truck, we didn’t feel like traveling in a huge diesel truck all the way down to our new house, unload and move all our boxes, furniture, televisions, gym equipment - into our home. We did it anyway, but when we were carrying a few items upstairs, we bumped into the freshly painted walls and left marks. There were a lot of scratches that day on doors and walls and we haven’t even slept in our bedroom as of yet. Houses are supposed to appreciate, but with a lot of these marks and gashes that we left behind, I’m sure our home depreciated a little – and this was day one of us being there.

It wasn’t just the house that took a beating. It was a few of my wife’s glass items that were broken as well (where she claimed it was my fault, but I begged to differ). We also were yelling at each other, because things were being scratched up – however, it was a hot summer day, so that didn’t help much as well. All I remember was that it wasn’t a great moving experience.
